CAIRO -- The leader of Lebanon's Shiite Muslim movement, Hizbollah, condemned this month's suicide bombings in Saudi Arabia and Morocco for having targetted "innocent people," an Egyptian newspaper reported Sunday.

"In principle, we do not approve of this kind of operation," Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah said in an interview with the government daily Al-Ahram as quoted by AFP.

"Until now, we have not understood who is behind these attacks," the Shiite leader said from Beirut.

"It is suitable to condemn the root causes which have pushed some to commit acts of this kind. When these actions target innocent people, we must condemn them," Sheikh Nasrallah was quoted as saying.

Suicide bombings in Casablanca, Morocco on May 16 left a total of 41 people dead. Four days earlier three suicide bombings left 34 people dead at compounds housing Americans and other foreigners in the Saudi capital of Riyadh.
